In collaboration with Prof. Ioannis Psycharis at Panteion University, the
REDEFINE project is pleased to invite interested scholars and experts to a one
day workshop. The workshop will discuss the impact that COSCO’s acquisition
of the majority of the Piraeus Port Authority’s share has had on the port and for
employment, urban development, and livability in Piraeus and Athens.

The workshop will also explore the broader geopolitical and economic context,
particularly in light of shifting European attitudes towards Chinese
investments. The European Union’s evolving de-risking strategy has created
an increasingly uncertain policy environment, leading to reconsiderations and,
in some instances, reversals in infrastructure collaboration with China.

These developments raise significant questions about the future of Piraeus’s
strategic role as China’s ‘gateway to Europe’ and Greece’s positioning between
EU strategic priorities and its bilateral relations with China.

Join us for a day of insightful panel discussions and networking opportunities
