INVITATION
The Brussels Hellenic Network ARGO and the Institute of International Relations (IDIS) of the
Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences organize on Wednesday, 11 October,
18:00-20:00, a round table discussion on European Defence Programmes and the Greek
Defence Industry hosted by the Embassy of Greece in Belgium, Rue des Petits Carmes 10,
1000 Brussels.
The event will bring together key stakeholders from European Union institutions, the business
community, academia and civil society. It will be the second of a series of joint activities of
ARGO and IDIS focusing at analysing Greece’s role as member of the European Union to the
stability of the Eastern Mediterranean. The workshops, organised alternatively in Athens and
Brussels, aim at presenting policy proposals in critical areas for growth and security of the
region in the context of a rapidly changing and multipolar international environment.
The program will evolve as follows:
Session I: Representatives of Greek think tanks and industry will present the state of play of
the Greek defense industry.
Session II: Representatives of the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and
ASD (AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe) will discuss opportunities
provided to small and medium size companies, such as the Greek ones, by relevant European
programmes and by the strengthening of the cross-border industrial value chains.
