Dr Nikos Chatziioakeim lectures topics of History at the War Colleges of the Hellenic Navy and the Hellenic Air Force (since 2008 and 2016 respectively). He is a qualified teacher of Adult non-formal Education.

  He holds a BA in History (University of Ioannina, Greece), an MA in Mediterranean Studies (King’s College London); at his PhD dissertation (Dept of Political Science and History, Panteion University, sponsored by a State scholarship for three and a half years), he examined political and international aspects of the Greek and the Cypriot armaments vis a vis the Turkish ones, during the first half of the 1960s. He also wrote two more books, the first one treating the international environment of the immediate post WWII and the early Cold War years of the Cyprus Issue and the second one focusing on specific exploitations of the British SBAs in the island (1945-1967). He did and still does extensive research in Public and Private Archives of Greece, the UK and the US.  

 His interests revolve around the Cyprus Dispute, the Greco-Turkish arms races, contemporary Middle Eastern Studies and Mediterranean History (emphasis placed on facets of Naval History, encompassing the levels of Strategy, Operational and Tactical). His published works include articles and contributions in collective volumes regarding the above topics.
