IDIS and the Hellenic National Defence General Staff concluded an MoU on Wednesday, January 10, 2023. The signatories were the Rear Admiral Ioannis Pattas on behalf of the agency’s human resource department and Professor Ifandis, on behalf of the Board of Directors of IDIS. The MoU is a dimension of the Armed Forces outreach to the Academic Community with a view to developing institutional interoperability.

The ceremonial signature of the MoU was attended by the Director of Academic Training of the General Staff, Commodore Vasilios Beletsiotis, the Teacher at the IDIS Major General Polychronis Nabladis, and Professor Charalambos Papasotiriou. The MoU consludes consultations between the leader of the General Staff, General Floros, and Professor Charalambos Papasotiriou that started in July 2023.

The MoU envisages deepening standing cooperation, creating a framework for the organisation of seminars, public events, research programmes, and specialised seminars. The members of the Armed Forces will be offered the possibility of participating in a “Defence Studies” programme that will include Theory of War, Strategic and Political analysis of the Second World War, History of the United States, Regional Warfare (1945-1991), Technology and Warfare, Strategy Arms Systems and Tactics, Greek Security and Military Strategy (19th to 21st century).
