The Research Group focuses on the study of historical conditions, philosophical foundations, and social mechanisms of knowledge production within the field of International Relations, critically examining the evolution, theoretical foundations, and epistemological approaches of the discipline. Its activities are strongly research-oriented and interdisciplinary, aiming to expand the scope and potential of reflexive inquiry into International Relations as an academic field. The Research Group explores the theoretical and philosophical traditions that have shaped International Relations, the relationship between knowledge and power, as well as the social, cultural, and historical factors that influence the production and dissemination of scholarly knowledge. At the same time, it examines the conditions and challenges associated with the aspiration to transform International Relations into a genuinely global discipline, through the inclusion of diverse theoretical, geographical, and cultural perspectives beyond dominant Western approaches.
