Russia, Eurasia and Southeast Europe Unit was established by decision of the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Relations (IDIS) of Panteion University in November 2004. In September 2008, the IDIS Board approved the expansion of the Unit’s activities, and it was subsequently renamed the Centre for Russia, Eurasia and Southeast Europe. The Centre is dedicated to the study and analysis of political, economic, and security developments across the Eurasian region, with particular emphasis on the former Soviet Union and Southeast Europe. Its geographical scope encompasses the entire post-Soviet space as well as Southeast Europe, extending from the Baltic Sea to Japan. This vast area borders several strategically important and volatile regions, including the Middle East, East Asia, and the Balkans, making it a critical focus for regional and international affairs research.
